Merry Christmas from the Snowy Northwest, Zion's Camp. Thursday before Christmas it snowed about four inches. People up here are not used to snow. They do not have the equipment to plow roads so the snow creates quite a mess on the roads. Three days later it really snowed. We went to bed when it had started snowing. About 11:30 we heard a big crash. Elder Larsen peeked out and to our horror the awning that sheltered our porch from the rain had come crashing down with the weight of the heavy snow. The 2x4's that supported the roof snapped like match sticks. There was so much snow people were stranded and couldn't leave their houses. Elder Larsen got on the front end loader and started moving the heavy white stuff. Even the deer were having trouble in the snow. This deer was just outside of the office door eating away on our flower bushes.

Henry on the big front end loader tractor. He said that he felt like he had moved tons of snow. It was so deep that it didn't take very far before the bucket was full of snow. It was also a heavy snowball making snow which added to the difficulty of removing it. In spite of all the hard work and difficulty traveling on the roads, it did make for a very beautiful white Christmas. We were able to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with Shellie. We went back to camp around 12:00 so that another missionary couple could go to their children's home. It was a a really fun time. Now we are back to work. The temperature has risen, the rain has started and the snow is disappearing. Isn't this a beautiful picture of the snow covered trees and the blue sky. It reminds me of the saying that the calm always comes after the storm. We hope that all of you have a wonderful new year with lots of adventures, some challanges and Many, Many of the Lord's blessings.
